More About Me...

Every single individual has the innate and natural capacity for healing and growth. My first goal is to simply get to know you - and get to know who you are on a very individual level. I seek understanding and connection in order to facilitate this innate capacity we all have for growth. We reach goals together - and actively work towards them, amend them, and revise them as we go along.

I am trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR Level 1 and 2) as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Level 1 and 2 of Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). All three psychotherapeutic modalities have an extensively researched evidence base, which helps drive results in therapy. I also use solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) as well as humanistic approaches, narrative approaches, and existential theory in my practice. I strongly believe in the mind-body connection, as well as the integration of culture, community, and relationships in overall treatment of mental health concerns.

As the focus of my graduate research, I became deeply involved in the manifestation, process and outcome of occupational burnout in provincial healthcare employees. I quickly discovered how widespread, yet unacknowledged, this phenomenon is in our Western culture, and sought to determine the evidence-based research that underlies recovery from the three core symptoms of burnout - emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal effectiveness. Through systematic analysis, I developed a unique understanding from which I have come to understand the nature of this phenomenon, and it is my professional passion to help you navigate the myriad of complex outcomes that burnout can have on your life and your relationships.

I have several years of experience working in acute adolescent and adult psychiatry, addiction services, and providing counselling through community agencies. This includes work with forensic populations (individuals awaiting trial or found not criminally responsible due to mental illness (NCR), brain injury, neurocognitive disorders, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, mood and personality disorders. I have received training in the administration, scoring and interpretation of formal assessments, including intellectual, cognitive, behavioural and neuropsychological assessments.

I am currently completing my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D., Cand.,) from California Southern University, and I currently hold a Master of Counselling (M.C.) from City University of Seattle and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from Grant MacEwan University.

I'm so excited to get to know you and chat about how I can help. Give me a call or send me off an email, and i'll try my best to reach out as soon as I can. I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to make sure we are a good fit and I will never hesitate to refer you in the right direction so you can get the help you deserve!
